The write up quietly turns back on the writer. If words shape the voice inside someone's head, then writing isn't just about sharing ideas. Every motivational writer. Every philosopher. Every therapist. Every politician. They're not only trying to persuade people. They're helping write the reader's inner voice. That's a bigger responsibility than most of us realize. Every sentence you write may become a sentence someone else silently says to themselves. So write carefully. For me that's the deepest idea hiding underneath the essay. It moves beyond social media criticism and into a general theory of how written language enters the mind.
“I look around and see people carrying borrowed wounds like they’re tattoos, like it’s a competition.” - this is a great line.
I think people often forget we’re all unique and different. It’s so common that self-help books are written by someone who has managed to overcome something difficult and assumed other people have the same problem and should resolve it the same way. The writer ends up forcing their perception of the world, ideas, values, goals, into the reader’s world.
I think language is just at the front, but behind are some assumptions often biased by our self-focused perception of the world. "I like XYZ so it means others must also like XYZ", etc.
Ciao David, you asked me to elaborate on the "terrifying statement" in a note and here I continue in the longer form.
Terrifying "not as the sea" because sea for me is even peace, nature and chaos which has no interest. A tool built to be the next technology to control the masses, the systems, the processes that's not natural, that's the result of an artificial artifact that we humans needed to feel a bit more gods and chase the endless hunger of discovery and success. You mentioned "the Trojan horse", well said. Social media were introduced to give us a place to share ourselves, turns out that those info were used to define what we like, optimize adv and build an attention economy. Now we have new toys, that should simplify/automate/speed up our works and life, but they are already introducing the concept of "intention economy". The Trojan horse is there, we see it and we know what it is. The terrifying thing? We can't ignore it but we can't take action cause when taking action we accept to be left out of a system that is speeding up, that might leave us behind. Work/life, do we have choice? I don't think so, I am learning and studying the systems myself and how to use them at the best, but everytime I feel a bit more guilty and terrified. No solution, just frustration and the feeling of being stuck in between (I talked more about it in one of my articles).
So that was it, for continuation just let's take it via messages hahah. First part about persona diary/ taking notes and building connections, loved it; I try to do the same.
Thanks for the attention and input for the discussion, I love to find people to overthink with.
Oh, what an awesome contribution. Thank you for elaborating on "The Quiet Flattening" topic. Do you see a potential parallelism between AI and the global banking system?

Hello Roy,
Thank you for your contribution to the topic: Mind “You”
Words indeed carry true power with real consequences.
From your perspective, the global status in this regard, how bad is it?

True that.
Fantastic contribution to the topic: Mind “You”.
I wonder if it’s a cultural problem or if the human language is designed to be weaponized that way from the get-go.
Maybe it's all of them, and even more?
